DC Interfaith Iftar 2016
AsSalaamuAlaykum (Greetings of Peace)!
Individuals observing Ramadan this year will abstain from food and drink from 4:00am to 8:30pm for thirty days. Originally inspired by the Se7enFast campaign (www.se7enfast.com), a few local interfaith friends are inviting people of different religious and non-religious backgrounds to fast and raise money for a shared cause in solidarity with the Muslim community on one of those days: 6/14/16
Although this event is free of charge, we encourage you to bring the money that you would have spent on food that day to donate to our collection for the DC Central Kitchen*. Come break bread with old friends and make some new ones as we enjoy a vegan meal picnic-style at Potter’s House in Adams Morgan.
Space IS limited, so please RSVP in advance so that we can properly estimate how much food we’ll need. Don’t forget to bring a blanket to share!
Note: If you are observing Ramadan and are interested in participating, we ask that you also register & bring someone of a different faith with you – it is, after all, an Interfaith Iftar!
Looking forward to having you join us, inshaAllah (GodWilling)!
*DC Central Kitchen uses food to empower minds, strengthen bodies, and build communities. They are America’s leader in reducing hunger with recycled food, training unemployed adults for culinary careers, serving healthy school meals, and rebuilding urban food systems through social enterprise.

P.S. This event was made possible by our sponsors: The Berkely Center, Center DC and The Potter’s House (They’re staying open an extra hour just for us!).
