Washington, DC Iftar with Amer Zahr
Join ANERA at the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center in Washington, DC, for our #RamadanSolidarity Iftar! Featuring a special performance by Palestinian-American comedian Amer Zahr, this Iftar will raise funds to send food packages to refugees and vulnerable families.
In addition to a performance by Amer Zahr, Laila El-Haddad, the award-winning Palestinian author and public speaker who wrote Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting, and Everything In Between and co-authored The Gaza Kitchen, will speak about Ramadan, food, and the importance of coming together as a community in solidarity with refugees and impoverished families. Laila will be joined by her husband Dr. Yassine Daoud, who will share his memories of Ramadan and his inspiring journey from growing up in a Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon to the hallways of John Hopkins where he is an accomplished Ophthalmologist.
A full-course dinner will be served and ANERA Vice President of Philanthropy Maggie Forster Schmitz, will be speaking about the current refugee crisis in Lebanon and conditions in Gaza and the West Bank, with an emphasis on the positive impact ANERA supporters have through our programs on the ground.
